Reflective Journal 8

The 8th GRACE Lesson, I mean Week since we also went to Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals (SPCA) on Tuesday after the Monday meeting, was quite okay. It started with Miss Lim showing us her final designs as well as Yen Wee's hand-drawn design which he passed to her at that time.  In my opinion, all of them had their good points, but personally, I feel that the one with B.F.F. was one of the better ones. Yen Wee's design was very vague as it did not show the intended colors. At that point, we also confirmed that we would be visiting the SPCA on Tuesday, March 26, 2010 to meet Selena Sebastian their Education Representative.

We then continued with our discussion of the survey questions, the mode in which we would be conducting our survey and etcetera. After several moments, Miss Lim suggested that we remove some questions which were pretty much irrelevant to the topic and also inappropriate to ask. We ended up with mostly Yes/No questions, with a few multiple choice questions for questions that may have many answers to. After that, we discussed out sample size & target audience which would be 100 people & Secondary 1 to 4 students + Teachers. Moments later, as usual, the bell rang for the next lesson to start, just when everything seemed to smooth out...

No matter, Tuesday would be an eye-opening experience for all of us. We all gathered at the front porch at 2.30 p.m. thinking that we would be going for the SPCA visit then and there, but we were instead asked to sit at the Study Area 2 to continue working on GRACE. Miss Lim went to put up things that were on exhibition for the Appreciation of Chinese Culture while that happened. At first, we started on our reflections but stopped when Miss Lim came to us to discuss. We discussed our schedule, logo, survey, design, blog shop, etcetera... I won't go into the minutes as they would just be a form of spam, if you call it that. It was sad to know that GRACE was going to end by Week 10, but after all, all good things have to come to an end, right?

We then started making our way to the SPCA. We passed by the Primary School section while Miss Lim stopped to settle something, I guess. When we arrived at the SPCA, a staff member told us that we were too late as the SPCA was "closed". Miss Lim then told her that we were going to meet Selena and she clarified that the cages were closed at 4 p.m. during weekdays which left us somewhat disappointed as we were unable to take some shots of the animals for some purposes. As far I I'm aware, it was only 3.56 p.m. at that time. Miss Lim then suggested that we make another trip to take the shots. After that, we proceeded into the office building (at least that's what I think it is) and told the receptionist that we were supposed to meet Selena & she called for Selena to come see us.

Selena came down and led us up for the meeting. There were 2 small birds in the meeting area, one of which just arrived in that day. We showed her our designs, and she said that the UK Flag design was not very suitable as the UK has some issues with people using their flag. She loved all the deisgns, well except the UK Flag one and Yen Wee's. We also discussed out plans for the events later, such as the Hall Assembly Talk and the sales. Before we ended, Selena told us that some actors, whose names I have forgotten were filming in the SPCA Clinic, which was the reason why we weren't allowed to pass through that area earlier. The trip to the SPCA has been exceptionally fruitful! :D

Our especially GRACE-ful week came to an end!
